Religious School Teacher: Volunteer Opportunity

Interested in volunteering with our religious school students as a teacher? Come join a superb faculty in a congregation that is serious about Jewish education!
 
Our Temple Beth Shalom Religious School enrolls almost 400 students. We have a dynamic religious school that includes an established education program for grades K-12, and fun and interactive elective courses for students in grades 3-12.
 
We are looking for creative, knowledgeable, and experienced teachers to help bring our vision to life. 
 
Possible volunteer positions include:
• Teaching positions in grades 1-5
• Teaching positions in grades 6-8
• Specialists positions like Israeli dancing, cooking and more!
 
Here's what you'll do:
 
• be organized, efficient, and able to follow a well-designed curriculum
• be a creative thinker who can design learning activities that capture students' imaginations
• embrace technology and capitalize on innovations that are redefining how we educate our children
• guide students (and their families) to experience the transcendent value of Judaism and to recognize that it enriches every aspect of life
• actively and cooperatively work as a part of a team of educators

Temple Beth Shalom is a learning community based on a partnership between professionals and our congregants, as well as congregants in cooperation with one another. This partnership leads to all learners being active contributors to their Jewish development while encouraging increased participation in the learning process.
 
Our learners are as young as infants and they remain with us throughout their lives. We believe that learning the skills for living a Jewish life is an essential component of Religious/Hebrew education. By learning the values embedded in Shabbat, holidays, communal religious events and home-based rituals, as well as the skills needed to celebrate them, our children will develop into Jewish adults ready to make informed choices about their lives.
 
Jewish living often occurs outside of the boundaries of "Jewish time," therefore we provide our students with values-based learning that transcends their lives. As a Reform community we believe in informed choice through knowledge, therefore we regard Jewish learning as essential, beginning at an early age. Living a Jewish life becomes relevant and meaningful when we understand the choices we are making on a daily basis and those choices become Jewish choices.
