In Quest of Teshuvah and Forgiveness:

A Night of Learning and Contemplation to Prepare for the Days of Awe

Tuesday, September 4th, 6:30-9:00pm,

we will continue our discussions over dinner at 7:30pm.

Please RSVP to marissa.wright@bethshalomaustin.org and bring $7.00 for dinner if you would like to join us for Chinese! Or bring you own!

(Let Marissa know which dinner option you choose)

During our first hour, Rabbi Cohen will lead a text study based on Teshuvah. Maimonides teaches that Teshuvah is not merely an individual mitzvah that one performs during this time of year, but rather an all-encompassing and fundamental approach to living a life of faith. Together, we will explore this core text that specifies how we go about offering and receiving forgiveness to return to the human beings that we strive to be.

One cannot prepare for the High Holidays solely with our intellect. After dinner Rosa Schnyer will lead us in an interactive program to help us slow down and pause, returning to our breathe in order to spiritually prepare for the High Holidays. Rosa will lead us in a Jewishly inspired mindfulness meditation and she will offer simple tools to prepare for Teshuvah and forgiveness through process oriented activities including journaling, reconnecting with nature, art and more.

Come as you are, leave ready to embark on the days of awe with a greater sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for your capacity to transform.
