Multi-Year Bonus For 1st & 2nd Sunday Sessions
We want to honor our madrichimot who continue to return to this role year after year! Madrichimot who apply for one of our Sunday morning sessions (8:45-10:45 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) are eligible to receive an additional $1/hour for each year they have been a madrichei. For 8th-9th graders, this will come in the form of a $25 stipend increase per session per semester.

While this bonus is only available to madrichimot who work one of the two sessions listed above in the 2025-2026 year, eligibility is based on any previous madrichei service, including Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday Hebrew.

*Per Temple Beth Shalom's policies, all teachers and madrichimot will need to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to teach in-person, unless they have a medical exemption.

When will I know if I am accepted?
After applications are received, they will be reviewed by the Hadracha Coordinator. You will be sent an email to set up a time to meet over Zoom, and you will be invited to the first madrichimot training on Sunday, August 17, as a part of teacher orientation. Unless there are any concerns with your application or you are a late applicant, you will be sent your classroom placement(s) the week of August 10.

Please note that all madrichimot receiving payment for the upcoming school year must be part of a Temple Beth Shalom 2025-2026 member unit. Non-member volunteer madrichei applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

When does Religious School start?
Sunday School will be starting on September 7th, and Wednesday Hebrew will be starting on September 10th.

Communication

There will be 2 methods of communicating information throughout the year. Weekly emails will go out on Thursdays to both madrichimot and parents/guardians and will contain information about the upcoming week as well as any other important information or reminders. We will also have a madrichimot GroupMe to allow for easier communication of brief reminders for the whole group. Madrichimot and parents/guardians will receive the Hadracha Coordinator's cell number for any one-on-one communication.

Along with your email and phone number, please add at least 1 parent/guardian phone number and email address to our mailing list.

Tell us a little bit more about you.
Note: this will not be taken into consideration for whether or not you will be a madrichei. We want to know so that we can support you as best as we can (i.e. if you have a pollen allergy, we wouldn't place you with the Judaism through Nature class).

Assignments

Please select which session(s) you are applying for and select your top THREE choices for each. We will do our best to give you one of these choices. You only need to pick your grade assignment choices for the session(s) you selected.

Be sure to only select the session(s) you intend to work.
This helps ensure that we can more accurately tell when a session is filling up. If you select multiple sessions, you are communicating that you intend to work multiple sessions. Please double check your availability before filling out this form. Your selection(s) will be confirmed during your Zoom call with Amanda.

Please note that 3rd-5th grade class options for the 11:30-1:30 session are subject to change. If you selected this session, we will let you know as class options get solidified.

Please note that sessions will be waitlisted as madrichei slots fill up. This will be noted next to each session. You are welcome to select a waitlisted session; however, there may or may not be availability.

Hebrew Skills

You only need to complete this section if you are interested in working as a madrichei for Hebrew School. Please fill this section out honestly. If you apply to be a Hebrew madrichei, you may be asked to complete a brief Hebrew assessment to ensure that you are placed with the class that is the best fit for you.

Please note that our 4th-6th grade classes are self-paced, meaning that even in older grades, you may be asked to help students review letters or prayers from previous years.

General Expectations
Please check off that you understand and agree to the following statements.
I recognize that email will be the primary form of communication for this job. I will check my email regularly and read each week's Thursday email thoroughly. When a response is necessary, I will do so promptly and thoroughly. I understand that a failure to communicate in a timely and reliable manner could result in my dismissal.
I will communicate any absences to the Hadracha coordinator and my teacher no later than 48 hours in advance of class time (outside of illness or emergency). I understand that failure to communicate absences may result in my dismissal from the program.
I understand that I am not permitted to use my cell phone at work unless given permission by a teacher or the Hadracha coordinator. My cell phone will remain on silent, in my bag/pocket for the duration of the day. In the event that I take it out and look at it, I understand that any teacher or the Hadracha coordinator may ask me to forfeit my phone until the end of the work day and I must comply.
I understand that while I will be assigned to a specific class, there may be times when I am asked to work with a different class to meet the needs of the program that day. In these cases, I will go where I am asked to and work with the teacher for that class.
