1:30 PM - 2:30 PMZoom

On your own schedule, visit the Blanton Museum of Art's "Black is Beautiful: The Photography of Kwame Brathwaite" exhibit (the show opens on June 27). Buy timed tickets at www.blantonmuseumofart.org for a time that is convenient for you to visit. (FYI: The Blanton is free on Thursdays!) Then on Aug. 17, congregant Laraine Lasdon will facilitate our Zoom discussion group about the exhibit.

Contact Laraine Lasdon to RSVP and for Zoom details.

About the exhibit: In the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s, Kwame Brathwaite (born Brooklyn, New York, 1938) used photography to popularize the political slogan “Black Is Beautiful.” This exhibition—the first ever dedicated to Brathwaite’s remarkable career—tells the story of a key figure of the second Harlem Renaissance.
