If you have seen our updates, you know that your Temple Beth Shalom rabbinical search committee has been hard at work finding our next assistant/associate rabbi over the past few months.  We are ready to bring one of those candidates to you, the congregation, to get to know her and give us your feedback.

Because of the pandemic, we have determined that it would be safer to hold Zoom meetings with our rabbi candidate on the topics below in the coming weeks.  (Note: These meetings will be limited to the first 95 computers to register due to our congregation’s Zoom license.  We encourage couples and families to register with only one computer so as not to take up additional space that can be used by others.)

At the end of each session, the search committee will ask you to give us your impressions of our rabbi candidate through a brief electronic survey.  Thank you for participating in this important step in the process to select our next associate rabbi.

Please see the list of opportunities at the end of this webpage to see our rabbi candidate lead our Shabbat services this month, and a Lunch and Schmooze for congregants living alone.

Engaging Ourselves in Our Community
Tuesday, January 12, 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Join our rabbi candidate and members of the rabbinical search committee as we explore her ideas on engaging our members in temple life.  We plan to explore how to include congregants who may not be as active, young people, post-B'nai Mitzvah/Confirmation students, and busy families who may find it challenging to participate in services and other activities. We'll ask our rabbi candidate to share her ideas and best practices on engagement strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to ask her questions on this topic.

Jewish Learning through the Ages
Wednesday, January 13, 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Are you curious about expanding your knowledge of Jewish traditions or applying Torah to your daily life? Is your child engaged in religious school? Are you acting “Jewishly” on a daily basis… and how do you know?   Please join us as our rabbi candidate and members of our associate rabbi search committee discuss perspectives on "Jewish Learning Through the Ages." Our rabbi candidate will briefly share her thoughts and approach to education across all age demographics, the search committee will facilitate the conversation by starting off the questions, and then congregants who participate will have the opportunity for further dialogue.

A Jewish Take on DEI, Social Justice and Advocacy, and Social Service
Wednesday, January 13, 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Please join our rabbi candidate to discuss her perspective on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); social justice and advocacy; and social service. Our rabbi candidate will briefly share her thoughts on each topic. Members of the search committee will ask the first question; then other congregants who participate will have an opportunity for questions and dialogue.

Please contact Temple Beth Shalom rabbinical search committee chair Keith Lewis at with questions about the sessions.

Meetings and Survey are limited to Temple Beth Shalom members only.
